Hirasawa - Marudo
|
Marudo was another Dainichi student when he started his koi career, He was one of the first before returning to Utogi where his father was a koi breeder. Marudo was also a great believer in the jumbo body shape, which Mano of Dainichi made very famous, the huge body shapes were the koi to have, they won all the shows, the huge hump behind the back, the massive cheeks. |

Igarashi Kazuto

Igarashi Kazuto is well known to most koi hobbyist’s around the world. Some time or other you will have seen a stunning koi bred by this guy. He has a superb eye for breeding show koi, patterns and bodies which will make you drool. Breeding from a Sensuke Kohaku for his Kohaku, along with Matsunosuke for his Sanke, also producing some great showa from various bloodlines. |

Mr. Iwashita became involved in the production of Nishikigoi after having experienced a variety of professions. He focuses on the production of Koi that cannot be seen at other Koi farms; he has created new varieties such as Ginrin Asagi and Ginrin Shiroutsuri. His concept is “a complete lineup;” he currently produces more than eighty varieties and maintains a unique approach towards Nishikigoi. |

Kaneko koi farm is where we purchase our Shiro Utsuri and Kujaku from predominetly, the farm also produces some very good kikokyru, Goromo and doitsu varieties as in Ochiba Shigure. We have a unique relationship with this koi farm and are always offered the farms best koi if funds allow ,Kaneko Koi are always commented on in the shop as being off the highest grade and always sell quickly this year the nissai and Sansai all sold out before even getting back into the U.K! |

Koshiji Koi Farm is a 100% dead cert on our Japan trip if we are after more unusual varieties,doitsu koi and mettalics. We spend many hours at this farm selecting tosai as there is a large demand for the general hobbyist for Koi bred by Kase and his dear friend Aoki. Founded: 1968 Mr. Nogami, present head of Nogami Koi Farm located in Muikamachi, Nagaoka city, gained training as a staff at Dainichi Koi Farm during its peak for fifteen years. He followed in the footsteps of Nogami Koi Farm in 1994. |

Oomo

Our first port of call on arriving in Nagaoka is a meeting with our shipper - koi guide and specialist Showa breeder Fujio Oomo. So, "Mr.Clint how was the flight you look very tired..... followed by ......i think i may take a rest too........, Fujio is one off Niigata's real characters and is always willing to make things fun. He speaks exceptional English which makes our dealing with the breeders in Japan so much easier and is always on hand to offer serious help and advice while we travel around the prefecture. |

Yamamatsu

Toshiyuki Sakai is Toshio Sakai’s elder brother. Toshio moved to Isawa when he was very young because he knew that his elder brother would get the house and business when their father passed it down, In Japan this is always the case.
Toshiyuki always used his father’s Matsunosuke bloodline, and himself changed it for the better to produce some of the best koi in the world, in the late 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s all you could see outside his facility was Mercedes, Rolls Royce’s...etc etc. |
