 As things like pollen and dust settle on your pond and protein scum forms on the surface, the level of gas exchange will decrease which will have adverse effects on the life in your pond. A surface skimmer is very beneficial in removing these pollutants. If these pollutants are not removed and sufficient surface agitation is not provided then oxygen levels will decrease and harmful gases such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide will increase.
Surface skimmers can be independently driven power skimmers, or they can be hooked into the main circulating pump system. This model also has an optional "wide mouth" throat extension and a kit for sealing it to a liner. |
