As with all koi ponds a Bottom drain is a must have !!! A successfully run koi pond will not be without one, and one should not contemplate building a koi pond without one.We believe you wouldnt sit in a bath with a box filter and rely on this to succesfully get rid of the dirty water without a plug!!! (Same principle) The advantages of the bottom drain over a pump fed system are immense. For one you are constantly drawing water from the bottom of your pond into the filter where the mechanical and biological filtration takes place. Spindrifter bottom drains offer the added solution that they provide superb aeration to the pond without having airlines dangling in the pond ,also at the same time this is aiding debris to be pulled into the drain far more efficiently. Now that we have covered the topic of getting the waste out of the pond we move onto filtration. The Eazypod in our opinion is the filter to have when you have, or are considering a pond of 2000 gallons or under.
